As with so many organizations at this time, HawkWatch International is looking to follow guidelines put forth by State, National, and International health organizations in regard to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). We are taking the following precautions to ensure that our employees and members of the community around us remain as healthy as possible:
- Our employees are working remotely whenever possible until further notice and our office is closed.
- We are sterilizing objects that have been used in public programs.
- All public programs are canceled until April 1, 2020. We will reevaluate this decision as more information becomes available.
In keeping with recommendations from the Governor of the State of Utah, we have also canceled all of our outreach programs until April 1, 2020. As more information becomes available, we will determine when and if we can reschedule programs for the current school year. If necessary, we will give scheduling priority to canceled schools in the fall. Currently, we are working on program offerings that can be used by students at home. This will include a video presentation of our iSEE high school program and various other resources that teachers, parents, and students can access for free online. We are also exploring the option of offering live distance learning to schools that we are unable to visit at this time.
Our team of educators is also using this time to review our current science programs. We plan to adjust our presentations to more closely align with new Utah Science with Engineering Education (SEEd) Standards and to develop new content that utilizes the 3D model of science instruction.
We are sorry about any inconvenience these changes have caused, and hope that we can continue to support science education during this time. Questions, comments, or concerns can be directed to Melissa Halvorsen at .
