Parade of Raptors

Join HWI for our informative and entertaining Parade of Raptors--a 45 minute program that introduces you to the diversity of HWI's education birds. The program covers some basic information on each species, and shares their individual stories about how they came to be in captivity and how we can help them in the wild through our own thoughtful conservation actions. All of our programs address raptor threats and the conservation challenges of declining habitat, hazards of toxic chemicals, and the role humans have played in both endangering and protecting these magnificent birds.

National Public Lands Day

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands.

HawkWatch International Research Biologist, Shawn Hawks, will be presenting at the South Fork State Park NPLD event on the ecology of raptors, migration, and the work that HawkWatch International does in the Goshute Mountains, as well as throughout the West. He will bring Calurus, a Red-tailed Hawk, to allow for an up-close look at a live raptor to help share some of the natural history of raptors, as well as the treats that raptors face.

Birds in the Lab!

Join the HWI crew and meet our Raptor Ambassadors for the opportunity to observe live raptors up-close and examine a variety of specimens-feathers, eggs, and claws! We will teach you how to discover and identify common raptors that live in the area, and about HWI's raptor conservation efforts.

This is your opportunity to learn more about birds of prey and what HawkWatch International is doing to protect them and our shared environment.
