Squaw Peak Overlook

Join HawkWatch International, Utah County Birders, and Great Salt Lake Audubon as we celebrate International Hawk Migration Week with a hawk watching field trip to the Squaw Peak Overlook along the Wasatch front.  Come put your eyes to the skies with us as we watch for migrating birds of prey and help you with your in-flight identification.  All level of raptor ID fans are welcome.  HawkWatch will also have one of our Raptor Ambassadors on hand for you to get a close-up look of a live raptor.

Make sure to bring your binoculars, dress for wind and sun, bring plenty of water and snacks, and pack a folding chair if you would like.  There are no restroom facilities at the overlook, so make sure to plan accordingly.

This exciting 3-day raptor workshop includes both classroom instruction and field identification learning with raptor expert Bill Clark.

The course is open to all levels of birders, includes lots of time in the field and informative short classroom sessions, and will cover the basic field marks for the identification of migratory birds of prey seen at the Corpus Christi HawkWatch. The workshop will start with two hours of classroom instruction on Friday evening, starting at 7 PM. Saturday and Sunday mornings start with another two hours of lecture, then the rest of the day in the field, with a break for lunch. The class will be kept to a small size for an intimate setting with Bill--register today before it fills!

The Corpus Christi HawkWatch boasts the largest total raptor migration count in North America, including large numbers of Broad-winged Hawks and Mississippi Kites.

The workshop will take place September 28-30, coinciding with peak hawk migration and the annual Celebration of Flight festival that includes live raptor exhibits.
