Kathryn Melsop

She/Her

Kathryn Melsop trapped and banded for HawkWatch International at the Goshutes HawkWatch during fall migration in the 90s. Her interest in and love for birds of prey began when she was 12 years old seeing her brother-in-law flying falconry birds. During graduate school, she was a field technician on a biodiversity index project on Mt. Apo in the Philippines. During that trip, she visited the Philippine Eagle Foundation, observing both captive and wild Philippine Eagles—one of the largest eagles in the world and a critically endangered species. All these experiences created an awe and respect for birds of prey and other wildlife for Kathryn.

Since then, her professional career has focused on human health, epidemiology, and patient outcomes research. Currently, Kathryn is the Director of Finance and Facility Operations for Stanford Laboratory for Cell & Gene Medicine, a biomedical manufacturing facility that develops clinical products for first-in-human therapies.

Having recently completed her MBA, Kathryn brings finance, strategic planning, organizational behavior, and development expertise to the Board.

Outside of work, Kathryn loves spending time with her two daughters; she enjoys birdwatching, traveling, reading, live music, running/walking/hiking, and swimming.
