Hazel Rocks Fund
Standing on the platform at Hazel Bazemore Park counting migrating raptors every day for the last 20 years, Dane Ferrell was a fixture at the Corpus Christi HawkWatch. He had a jovial nature, quick wit, and a passion for inspiring the public to love birds just as much as he did.
One of Dane’s favorite things to say when predicting the next day’s happenings at the platform was, “And Hazel will rock…” And although there are many reasons for that—including the hundreds of thousands of raptors that migrate through past the site each year—Dane played an undeniable role in why Hazel rocked.
While we’re sure that the platform at Hazel Bazemore Park will rock less loudly without Dane, we look forward to doing all we can to keep it rocking for many years to come. That’s why, in partnership with his wife Libby, we’ve created the Hazel Rocks Fund. With your support, we’ll make sure Hazel Rocks for years to come, by carrying on Dane’s legacy of raptor education.
