In Memory of Dane Ferrell

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of long-term Migration Crew Member and friend Dane Ferrell. A fixture at the Corpus Christi HawkWatch for the last two decades, it is hard to imagine the platform without his jovial nature, quick wit, and, of course, his passion for studying birds and inspiring the public to love them just as much as he did.

Although we are still processing the unexpected loss of our colleague and friend, we also want to honor his legacy. We invite you to make a gift in Dane’s memory, which will go towards a cause near to his heart, to be selected in partnership with Dane’s wife, Libby.

One of Dane’s favorite things to say when predicting the next day’s happenings at the platform was, “And Hazel will rock…” While we’re sure that the platform at Hazel Bazemore Park will rock a little less loudly without our friend Dane, we look forward to doing all we can to keep it rocking for many years to come.
