From the Executive Director

It’s hard to believe that HawkWatch International celebrates its 40th anniversary later this year.

I probably sound like a broken record, but it bears repeating as we celebrate this milestone… HawkWatch International is so different today than it was 20—or even five—years ago. And, we have people like you to thank for this transformation.

When I joined the team in 2009, we had just three Raptor Ambassadors and no formal volunteer program. We provided ~100 education programs a year. While we occasionally dipped our toes into a special project, like Great Basin Raptor Nest Surveys, our primary focus was migration.

Today, your support makes so much more possible.

Your support has allowed us to grow, from counting every raptor that migrates past our hawkwatch sites to investigating the declines of American Kestrels. Because of people like you, we now close the nature gap for 30,000+ learners a year across the Western United States,

And there’s so much still to come. I hope you’ll consider joining us on this journey as a Raptor Regular. Your monthly contribution will provide the consistent support needed to continue important long-term research and education efforts. Your support will also help us grow over the next year, as we work to conserve the endangered Secretarybird and renovate The Roost.
