Development & Communications Director

Kirsten Elliott

She/Her

From an early age, Kirsten had a deep love for animals and a commitment to helping others. Her parents lost track of how many stray animals she brought home over the years. When she wasn’t doing that, she often spent late nights at school board meetings, organizing her fellow students and passionately advocating for change. Although she imagined this would take her into the world of politics or lobbying, these passions combined in college to lead her toward a career in nonprofit communications and fundraising.

Kirsten rejoined the team at HawkWatch International as the Development & Communications Director in October 2020 after spending two and a half years missing the birds (and building a development program from the ground up at a startup nonprofit). She previously served as the Development Coordinator from 2016-2018. Kirsten holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Utah and bachelor’s of arts degrees in Political Science and Mass Communication from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

When she’s not working, you’ll find Kirsten at the Cyclebar, experimenting with a new vegetarian dish, or exploring her home of Memphis, Tennessee with her husband and three dogs.
