Follow Flammulated Owls as the Sun Falls

Step into the world of raptor science with this rare opportunity to follow Flammulated Owls. Join HawkWatch International’s scientists just outside Eden, Utah for this owlsome adventure, hiking through the aspen forests of Northern Utah as the sun sets, in hopes of encountering this elusive, migratory raptor in its natural habitat.
Known for their rust-flamed feathers that help them hide, Flammulated Owls aren’t easy to spot. During this guided field trip, you’ll learn how researchers locate these tiny raptors and hopefully even have the chance to see one for yourself. Along the way, you’ll learn more about Flammulated Owls, how to identify their calls, and how the work you witness contributes to their conservation.
This intimate evening is limited to eight participants to ensure a high-quality, low-impact experience in the field. No prior field experience is necessary, but participants should be comfortable hiking at night on uneven surfaces.
